- If your car gets broken/crashed somewhere unsafe/ out of town
DO NOT LEAVE YOUR VEHICLE TO GET HELP.Unlike what you might think, there is high chance for you to get lost, instead of finding someone or somewhere safe. Call emergency numbers and stay near your vehicle. spend the night inside the vehicle. That keeps you away from animals. - Downhill leads to water; Again, I suggest not getting far from where you are at first place. Not even for water. But if you are next to a hill already, walk downhill. You have better chance to find water. use your car plate or something similar to dig the ground. Use your sock as purifier. Put wet soil in your sock and push. Drink the small drops that come out. It is disgusting, but better than dying. You might need to drink your urine to stay alive.
- Use big stones to create a S.O.S sign on the ground. Somewhere that can be seen from a plane or helicopter. Try to make it visible. If it’s on the shores, make sure it won’t go away with water. If you’re lost in the jungle, reach for somewhere higher to send out S.O.S
- Use mirror to send sign to a helicopter or aircraft. If you do not have a mirror, use the front mirror of your car. If you have an umbrella use it to protect yourself against sun. Plus, objects like colorful umbrella (especially if the color contrasts with the surface you are standing on) can be seen from the air. Use that in addition to mirror.
- Use ANY energy source. ANYTHING. If you’re out of food, you have to try a non-toxic live animal. Even if it’s disgusting to you.
- If you are lost in a hot desert DO NOT TAKE OFF YOUR CLOTHES. That’s right. Don’t. You become instantly dehydrated. Putting clothes on protects you from UV. It also absorbs your sweat, and prevents the sweat from becoming easily dehydrated.
- If you are lost in the snow and your clothes are wet, TAKE THEM OFF.Wet clothes make you freeze. And you die sooner.
- Never walk with money in your hands. When you receive money, place it somewhere safe. There’s always a thief watching where you put your valuables.
When using ATM, try the keyboard/sensor first to see if there’s a fake keyboard/sensor installed on it. Try to pull it out gently to see if anything comes off. You should tell the authorities if you find something.
- When paying with your card, always tell the sales person that you insert that pin yourself. Don’t tell your password to them. When they give it back to you, look if they changed the card with another one. That’s why it’s better to have cards with your name printed on.
- NEVER SIGN ANYTHING before you carefully read the whole paper. Even if it’s very long. That might be a trick. Always read the context.
- NEVER SIGN A BLANK SHEET. someone may add a legal context above your signature and screw your life with that.
- Always wash the top of a beverage can. Some of the beverages you drink might have been stored somewhere, close to rodents. They can carry deadly diseases. You never know how clean the can is. So please, just wash it properly before you attach it to your lips.
- If your body is not fully protected with tight clothes, don’t sit/lie on the ground. Ticks might get under your skin. They can infect you with lyme disease. When traveling to countries with dangerous mosquito, ALWAYS use insect repellent on your skin.
- If a tarantula suddenly falls on you, don’t panic. If you panic, you make the animal panic too. So it bites you in defense. Stay calm. Look for a bucket, glass, jar, pot, etc around you. Hold it on tarantula’s way so it can go inside. Now cover the bottom of the jar with a newspaper, book, etc,… . Take it away. This however, might not work on scorpions… .
- If a snake bites you or someone else, take a picture of the snake. So when you get to the hospital or clinic, they can recognize the snake and give you the right antidote. Tie the upper part of the bitten surface with a band. This, prevents the poison from getting into other parts. If you don’t have the right instruments and skills for capturing the snake itself, don’t try. That could make the situation more dangerous.
- If you are hiking and you see a bear, don’t panic. Don’t run. The bear is faster than you and you have no chance to outrun a bear. Do not climb. Bears can climb too. Try talking. Bears usually stay away from humans. So if the bear hears your voice, it probably walks away. Do not feed the bear. The bear might follow you for more food. Do not get close to it. And don’t let it smell the food in your backpack. If you saw little bears, don’t get between the cubs and the mom. Don’t touch the cute cub. Mommy is somewhere around and will screw you. Try to walk away slowly so you won’t scare the bear. If it gets close to you, stay still and let it smell you. In the worst case scenario IF A BROWN BEAR ATTACKS YOU, PLAY DEAD. Lie on the ground, on your stomach and cover the back of your neck with your hands. IF A BLACK BEAR ATTACKS YOU, FIGHT BACK. DO NOT PLAY DEAD WITH A BLACK BEAR. HIT THE BEAR IN THE FACE.
