Most of the forts in India are in the North in places like Rajasthan in the south we have the beautiful Golconda fort It was built in 13th century by the Kakatiya rulers.It was under the control of Bahmani dynasty later in 1518 Quli Qutub Shah destroyed the Bahmani dynasty and established the Qutub shahi dynasty and declared the Golconda as his capital later he was defeated by Aurangazeb who looted Golconda. Golconda was very famous for trading diamonds it is the second most famous place in Hyderabad after Charminar here are some more facts about Golconda which you have to check out.
1.There are 3 places in USA which are named after Golconda
Search for Golconda USA and you will find three places with name Golconda 
1.In Nevada, It was named for the diamond mining of Golconda
2.In Illinois, first the town was called Sarahsville but later renamed to Golconda after the ancient city Golconda in the year 1817
3.The last one is in Arizona it was named after Golconda because it had mines like the ones that were found in Golconda.

We often keep hearing about the secret underground tunnels from Golconda to Charminar and Taramathi which are used by the Kings to escape but these tunnels are never found by anyone.

It has a Mahakali temple at the top that has been blessing the twin cities for more than 900 years 
7.The clapping place
Golconda is architectured in such a way that when you clap at the starting point the sound can be heard at top. this feature is to alert the soldiers on the top when any guests arrive or the intruders. 
8.Its connection with Taramathi Baradari
Taramathi is the lover of Abdullah Qutub Shah, the seventh sultan Mohammed Quli Qutub Shah has created a musical auditorium with 12 entrances which are known as baradari later came to be known as Taramathi Baradari. It is believed that Taramathis spirit is still wandering making it an haunted place.

before visiting Golconda I suggest you to carry your own food and water as you have to climb many steps and the food on the top is not so good. you can spend atmost two hours in this place.
